Happy Mother's Day

As I prepare to celebrate my 2nd Mother's Day as a mom, I can't help thinking about our wonderful mothers. So, I would like to take a few minutes and this post to honor them.

My mom has been an amazing mother. She has been a wonderful example of a godly wife and mother for me. She raised my 2 brothers and me while being a great Army wife. Aside from being my mother, she is one of my best friends. When my dad was stationed in Germany, my mom decided to home school my older brother and me. That lasted only one year. She told me years later that the reason why she chose not to home school us any longer was because she wanted to have a good relationship with me when I got older. Apparently, I fought with her a lot during that year. Hard to believe, I know, but it is true. I am so grateful that she made that decision. I can talk to her about anything and I value her opinion and advice. Last year, my mom (and dad of course) were a huge help and support while Joey was away at training. Connor and I lived with my parents for several months over the summer and mom took excellent care of Connor as I neared the end of my pregnancy and had Bailey. Connor was so attached to her. I praise God for my wonderful mother.

My wonderful mother-in-law, Joey's mom. Joey's mom is an amazing woman also. She has raised 9 children. Joey has 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She still has 4 living at home. The first time I met her, I was so nervous. She has welcomed me into her family as a daughter. She raised an amazing son that I am so blessed to married to. Her patience knows no bounds. She is a wonderful example of a wife and mother for me. I appreciate all the advice she has given me over the past few years we have been married. I know Joey thinks the world of his mother. She would do anything for her children and defends them like a mother lion. Last year, she was also a huge help and support while Joey was gone. I was so glad to have her and dad just a few minutes away in case I needed anything. She watched Connor for me while I finished out the school year teaching. I think she got the better end of that deal. Connor loved spending time with her and going to see the cabin they were building. She helped clean the house, paint some trim, and so many other things to get the house ready to sell. While we were in Kansas, she and dad faithfully went to check the pool and the house. They did so much for us and were instrumental in getting the house sold.

As I reflect on these two amazing mothers the Lord has blessed me with, I pray I can follow their examples. I pray that years from now, Connor and Bailey can look back and say they were blessed to have me for their mother. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there and to our two mothers. We love you. God bless!!!
